DRAFT — body needs Carlos’s review before launch.
A day tour to Corcovado gets you a postcard. The overnight tour gets you the park in its working hours — dawn, when tapirs cross the beach, and dusk, when ocelots move along the trails. You sleep at Sirena Ranger Station, in the middle of the forest, with no light pollution and no escape from the soundtrack of the jungle at night.
This is the tour Carlos ran most often in his 30 years of guiding. Expect a long day on Day 1 with several hours of hiking in tropical heat; Day 2’s pre-breakfast hike is the wildlife highlight of the trip for most visitors.
What to bring
Hiking shoes you don’t mind getting wet, sandals for the boat, a change of clothes for Day 2, a lightweight long-sleeve shirt, shorts, sunblock, insect repellent, a flashlight, water, and your passport.
Booking the park permits
Park permits are reserved in your name at the time of booking. The operator needs your full name and passport number when you reserve.
